Mircea
|Eliade (1907-1986) was a historian of religion, fiction writer, philosopher and professor
at the University of Chicago. He wrote 30 scientific books, literary and
philosophical essays translated into 18 languages, and
over 1,200 articles and reviews on varied themes very well documented. He
edited 18 volumes of the "Encyclopedia of Religions". Works such as
"Saga: Essai sur les Origines of mystique indienne", "Cosmologie
si alchimie babiloniana", "Le Sacre et le profane", "Romanul
adolescentului miop", "Maitreyi", "Gaudeamus", "In
curte la Dionis" are famous all over the world. Some of his works have
been turned into movies: "The Bengali Night" (1988), "Miss
Christina" (1992), "The snake" (1996), "Youth Without Youth"
(2007).
