ALEXANDER THE GREAT'S TROOP DIET

A lot of the food Alexander and his army ate was fish since most of the support and supplies came from his navy. They were required to transport a great deal of the food. When Alexander didn't have access to his navy his troops carried their own food, mainly bread and nuts. They even carried their own water. At times they would even steal their food when trade wasn't possible. The food they ate depended on the place they were. In Babylon they ate corn and fish. In India they ate cattle and deer. They ate what they could find in order to survive. They even ate tree bark and any type of eatable plant. Alexander himself was temperate in eating and he didn't stay long in symposiums because he didn't drink much.
