Toast



The movie Toast is about the life of a famous cookery writer and cook, Nigel Slater. The film director is S. J. Clarkson and Oscar Kennedy is the actor who plays little Nigel Slater. Freddie Highmore plays Nigel when he is about 15 years old, and Helena Bonham Carter plays Nigel's stepmother, who is always competing with Nigel to show who the best cook is. They cook delicious dishes like lemmon meringue pie, one of Nigel's dad favourite dishes.


The film is moving and funny: Nigel's mother dies when he is a little boy and he has to face a difficult relationship with his father and the woman who becomes his stepmother, a good cook but not a very understanding person. As a child he dreams of cooking and eating delicious dishes, and this dream will come true as a young man, when he becomes a good cook who can impress everybody with his talent in the kitchen.
