Greek
Literature often mentions this important part of our culture: gastronomy. Our
writers recall memories from either feasts or simple dishes of the poor. They
describe rich buffets of the rich and poor dishes of people who tried and try
to feed themselves through the centuries, during peace and war and have combined
love, war, joy and sadness with
gastronomy.
In Greece
we end up eating whatever the cause. A wedding, a christening, a funeral, a
name day, a birthday or just a visit of someone we see every day or someone we
rarely see. As the ancient Greek Historian said - we sit at a table not to just eat , but to eat together. So every social event is a means for us to sit together, eat and discuss.
