The movie is a comedy drama
written and directed by Nora Ephron, and Meryl Streep and Amy Adams play the
leading characters. It tells us the story of two women: the famous cook Julia
Child, and Julie Powell, a young girl who lives in New York and admires Julia
Child.
Julie Powell had a boring
job in a call center and to motivate herself she decided to cook all the
recipes in the book Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Julie decided that she
would prepare the 524 recipes in Julia’s cookbook in 365 days, and she would
also tell everyone about her experiences in a blog created so that everyone
could know about the cooking process and the things Julie felt while cooking.
Some recipes were really
delicious, and Julie and her husband enjoyed every dish she prepared. Sometimes
Julie and her husband had arguments, as Julie felt very stressed after cooking
so much. In one of these arguments Julie’s husband left home, and they both
felt very sad about it. Finally they made up and the 524 recipe challenge was
successfully finished by Julie. Her blog became very famous.
The story of Julia Child is
woven into the story of Julie in the movie; thus, we can see how Julia learned
to cook when she was in France and worked hard till her book Mastering
the Art of French Cooking was published. Due to his husband’s job, they
had to travel from place to place but she was a determined woman and she
finally became a successful person in the world of cooking.
