The Chef (in english) Comme un chef (in frech), is a
french comedy of 2012 directed by Daniel Cohen. Starring: Jean Reno, Michaël Youn, Raphaëlle Agogué.
Jacky Bonnot, 32, amateur large kitchen, some talent,
dreams of success and great restaurant. The financial situation of the torque
required to accept small jobs that can not cook to keep. Until he crosses paths
with Alexandre Lagarde, great chef whose comfortable situation is endangered by
the owner of restaurants financial group.
Jacky Bonnot (Michaël Youn) is a young french living
with his pregnant girlfriend (Raphaëlle Agogué). After being fired from a
restaurant he becomes worried about the birth of his child, so he decides to
get any job despite his fondness for haute cuisine. Accepting a job as a
painter, he finds three interns to which he helps improve their menu. These
improvements eventually reach Alexandre Vauclair (Jean Reno) who also finds
himself in a precarious situation: being a renowned chef of the Cargo Lagarde
restaurant, he has to improve or innovate all the menu. If he cannot achieve
this, the place will lose a star and Stanislas Matter (Julien Boisselier) will
convert it into a molecular kitchen, with Alexandre and all the cooks losing
their jobs. Jacky initially rejects the offer to work with Alexandre, because
he only offers a internship without payment, but after thinking, he accepts.
Next day both Jacky and Alexandre start to cook but as soon as they begin,
Jacky's finickiness and Alexandre's stubbornness makes them engage in a
discussion that concludes with Jacky being fired.
Alexandre regrets his decision and sends someone to search
and take him back to the Cargo Lagarde ranks. They reconcile and start to plan
improvements in the restaurant's menu. As Jacky is an intern and has no
payments, he lies to his girlfriend about searching jobs but she goes to where
he started as a painter and finds herself in the kitchen of the interns, whom
are keeping a video call with Jacky. She discovers him lying and they broke
their relationship. Alexandre offers him a glass of wine that Jacky accepts,
and they keep tasting bottles of wine until both of them becomes slightly
drunk. Jacky plans to reconcile with his girlfriend with the help of Alexandre,
but the plan fails as she gets mad at his proposal, without much planning and
resorting to help. Alexandre offers to Jacky a room in his house to spend the
night, and the first gets to talk with his daughter who has a little resentment
over his dad indifference towards her thesis and getting her degree.
