PANEM ET CIRCENSES

Panem et Circenses is an Italian  cultural association, born in 2012. 

Panem et Circenses has as institutional goals: the promotion of an interdisciplinary gastronomic culture; the promotion of an interactive and holistic approach to food, thought as a dialogue with all forms of expression, whether cultural or natural.

A large mosaic map, composed of perfectly edible food and packaged in unit-dose packaging, is installed on the wall according to a principle of geographical origin of the subjects involved in Setup (from artists to galleries, curators from the organizers).

The mosaic, which immediately gives the impression of a whole, homogeneous and (at the same time) varied, has a precise objective: to provide an active map of Setup, through which symbolically  re-define and re-draw an independent artistic enjoyment.

The action of the participant is free from schemes and suggestions. The user is provided with an explanation of the "conceptual map of taste" and an edible object, vehicle-support for the items selected (and symbolically embodying Setup, as host and aggregator).

At the end of the performance, the remains left on the wall create a new geography
