Mihail Sadoveanu(1880 – 1961)

He was a Romanian novelist, short story writer, journalist
and political figure. One of the most prolific Romanian-language writers, he is
remembered mostly for his historical and adventure novels, as well as for his nature writing.
A founding member of the Romanian
Writers' Society and later President of the Romanian Writers' Union.
The novella Hanu Ancuţei ("Ancuţa's
Inn"), is a frame story in the line of medieval allegories, such as Giovanni Boccaccio's Decameron and Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.
It retells the stories of travelers meeting in the
eponymous inn. Much of the story deals with statements of culinary tastes and
shared recipes, as well as with the overall contrast between civilization and
rudimentary ways
He also wrote about fishing and hunting, and commented
upon the memoirs of other avid hunters (Istorisiri de vânătoare,
"Hunting Stories").
