Eduardo De Filippo (24 May 1900 – 31 October 1984) was
an Italian actor, playwright, screenwriter, author and poet, best known for his Neapolitan works Filumena Marturano and Napoli Milionaria. He represents the traditions of Neapolitan
cooking. He wants real food on the stage, laid tables with different food, hot
meat sauce, pasta, turkey, chicken, fish, onion omelette and fried onions, hot
coffee, fruit etc...For him set designing must represents reality. Coffee is
very important: it is the symbol of little
breaks of pleasure after a hard day of work, it is a relaxing moment taken to
the daily weariness. To have a cup of coffee is also important to keep social
relationship: you can have your cup with your friends and to consolidate your
friendship.
