Josephine Baker , is born Freda Josephine McDonald in 3 June 1906 in St. Louis (Missouri) and died 12 April 1975 in the 13th arrondissement of Paris. Is a singer, dancer and lead dancer.
Josephine is an American-born French dancer, singer, and actress who came to be known in various circles as the "Black Pearl," "Bronze Venus" and even the "Creole Goddess". Josephine later became a citizen of France in 1937. She was fluent in both English and French. During the Second World War, she plays an important role in resisting the occupation.Baker was the first African-American woman to star in a major motion picture, "Zouzou" in 1934 or to become a world-famous entertainer.
In African American and Native American mixed origin Appalachian, it is often regarded as the first black star. She took French nationality in 1937 and during the Second World War, plays an important role in resisting the occupation. It will then use its popularity in the fight against racism and for the emancipation of blacks, especially in supporting the civil rights movement of Martin Luther King.
