Eric Tabarly




Eric Tabarly been sailing since the age of 3 years with his parnets. Caught of passion for sailing, he enlisted in 1952 in the National Navy.

He then launches into the competition and won the solo Transatlantic race in 1964 aboard a sailing yacht design: Pen Duick II. Tabarly won other victories such as the Transpacific in 1969.

In 1976 he won again the solo transatlantic race aboard Pen Duick IV, after facing the elements alone with the broken autopilot. Tabarly shape over the years many teammates to whom he passes on his passion for sailing. Among these are in particular Olivier de Kersauson.

Eric Tabarly disappears in 1998, in the Irish Sea.
