Le Palais de Versailles

The Palace of Versailles is a castle and a French historical monument which stands at Versailles, Yvelines, in France. It was the résidence of the kings of France Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI. The king and his court reside permanently from 6 May 1682 to 6 October 1789. Located in the south-west of Paris, the castle and its grounds were intended to glorify the French monarchy. The park of Versailles has many elements, including the Petit and Grand Trianon, the Hamlet of the Queen, the Grand and Petit Canal, a menagerie, an orangery and the water part of the Swiss.
